Systematic copying, republication, commercial exploitation, database extraction, model training, text and data mining, translation, syndication, bulk redistribution, or similar uses may require permission unless a statutory exception applies.

Third party material remains the property of its respective owner and may appear under license, permission, public domain status, quotation rights, fair use, fair dealing, or another lawful basis.

No right or license is granted except where expressly stated or otherwise provided by applicable law.

Attribution alone does not automatically authorize reproduction.

Where legally protected, removal or alteration of copyright notices, credits, metadata, watermarks, attribution, or disclosure information is prohibited.

7. User Submissions and Comments

When you submit a comment, message, correction request, article pitch, document, image, or other material, you confirm that you have the right to submit it and that the submission does not unlawfully infringe privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or other rights.

For public comments and other material intended for publication, you grant Digital Liberty a non exclusive, worldwide, royalty free license to host, reproduce, edit for length or clarity, moderate, display, archive, and distribute the material in connection with the website, publication, and editorial record.

You retain ownership of your submitted material.

Access may be restricted or abusive activity blocked where reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, protection of users, or service integrity.

Moderation decisions do not create an obligation to monitor every submission or guarantee that every violation will be identified immediately.

9. External Links and Third Party Services

The website may contain links to or integrations with third party websites, documents, platforms, payment providers, analytics services, social networks, media players, or other external resources.

A link or integration does not constitute an endorsement.

Digital Liberty does not control the availability, security, accessibility, privacy practices, accuracy, content, or terms of third party services.

Use of an external service is governed by that provider’s own terms and policies.

Affiliate and sponsored links may be used only in accordance with the Sponsored Content and Affiliate Disclosure policy.

10. Privacy and Cookies

Personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

Cookies and similar technologies are addressed in the Cookie Policy.

Where applicable law requires consent for non essential cookies or similar technologies, such technologies should not be activated before a valid consent choice has been obtained.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the website and its content are provided on an “as available” basis.

Digital Liberty does not warrant that every item will always be complete, current, error free, suitable for a particular purpose, uninterrupted, or free from all harmful technical components.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, statutory protection, or legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Views expressed in signed opinion, commentary, or contributor pieces belong to the identified author unless the article expressly states that it represents an institutional position.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Digital Liberty, its publisher, editors, contributors, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance upon the website or its content.

This may include losses associated with external links, service interruption, unauthorized third party conduct, technical failures, or a reader’s failure to obtain appropriate professional advice.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion would be unlawful, or any other liability that cannot legally be limited.

13. Indemnity

Where permitted by applicable law, a person who knowingly uses the website unlawfully or submits material that violates another person’s rights may be responsible for reasonable losses and costs directly resulting from that conduct.

This provision does not apply to legitimate criticism, good faith correction requests, protected whistleblowing, lawful security research, or ordinary lawful consumer use.

14. Changes to These Terms

Digital Liberty may update these Terms to reflect legal, technical, editorial, operational, or organizational changes.

Material changes should be identified through a new effective date and, where appropriate, an accompanying notice.

Continued use of the website after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the law applicable to the publisher identified on the Publisher and Legal Information page, without overriding mandatory consumer, privacy, employment, speech, or procedural rights that may apply in another jurisdiction.

Courts having lawful jurisdiction may hear disputes concerning use of the website.

Before initiating a claim, parties are encouraged, where appropriate, to raise the issue through the relevant corrections, complaints, privacy, security, commercial, or legal channel.

This does not prevent a party from complying with a statutory limitation period, seeking an urgent remedy, or exercising another legal right that cannot lawfully be waived.
